Obama fires Somali Pirate leader

Obama fires Somali Pirate leader
April, 9 2009
In an unprecedented move President Barack Hussein Obama has fired the leader of the Somali Pirate cell responsible for the capture of Merchant Marine Captain Richard Phillips. Captain Phillips is an American Citizen that lives in Underhill, Vermont. President Obama said the actions of the Pirate leader Aba Ubu where “disappointing” and that “differences of opinion on broader issues” would not permit the President to negotiate with the Pirate leader for the release of the Captain. Then, under pressure from the Somali Pirate Organization’s Governing Board of Directors Aba Ubu was forced to step down.
The Pirate B.O.D. then decided that Abdikarim Nadif Korfa would replace the publicly disgraced Ubu. President Obama announced that he was pleased with the Pirate B.O.D.’s decision and believed that he could make “real progress” with Pirate leader Korfa and would immediately seek face to face negotiations. In an audio broadcast from Air Force One released at 9:30 a.m. EST. President Obama described a conversation he had with Mr. Korfa via telephone and stated the newly installed Pirate leader was “willing to make tough concessions.” The President added that Mr. Korfa had agreed to “immediately halt the capture of all non coal-burning vessels.” President Obama said he was “particularly enthusiastic that both of us agreed ummm(inaudible)…agreed it was important to seek, seek consensus on a smaller, more environmentally friendly fleet of Pirate ships that would include a mix of hybrid vessels as well as those powered with alternative fuels.” President Obama went on to say “Mr.Korfa was concerned that there is no electric grid, and consequently ummmm (inaudible) no electricity in the failed ummm...Or, I should say...hummm…underprivileged and…um-more IMPORTANTLY…Dis-disadvantaged state of Somalia.”
AT this point, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs continued the conversation stating the President had to take an important phone call from pop-sensation Miley Cirus.
Mr. Gibbs further described the conversation stating, “Bio Diesel though available in Somalia, is currently made from the flesh of peasants which are increasingly rare as many of Somalia's citiz-well...the people now living in the area once known as or the Recognized area of Somalia. The good news is the majority of the peasant population is now gainfully employed in the flourishing Pirate industry. President Obama has stated that the restructuring of Somalia’s work force was an encouraging sign. The President said he does not agree with all of Somalia's energy policies but he is confident there will be areas where they will share common ground. And both leaders where committed to having a fruitful yet, spirited discussion when they meet in Cairo, Egypt in the coming days.
President Obama then announced his intentions to give a press conference shortly after meeting with Mr. Korfa from the steps of The Great Pyramid of Giza considered one of the Worlds Seven Wonders.
The President did not confirm or deny rumors that his trip to the Pyramids might point to the President’s greater ambition of seeking the position of “Eighth Wonder of the World” stating only “When it comes to the Gods, everything is on the table.”
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was no longer available for comment.

Obama fires the GM CEO...

Socialism 2.0

POTUS Obama has for all intents and purposes fired the CEO of General Motors.
Understand, Barak Obama has never Managed his way out of a wet paper bag and he has now dropped in and taken over decision making for one of the Nation’s largest auto makers. News Flash, the most popular eco-friendly car the Toyota Prius has not yet turned a profit so how does Obama justify his pledge to force our Auto Makers to make “Green cars.” Let us not forget that this President is protecting the UAW which is a major reason our Auto makers are not competitive. Oh, and let us not forget that Congress passing the CafĂ© standards which was the first attempt to make our cars more Green is exactly what put the nails in the coffin. This President is trying to radically socialize our Country to the extent that even the most Left-Wing European leaders are balking at Obama’s out of control spending spree. European leaders understand that Obama is toying with bankrupting the U.S. economy which in turn could bankrupt all of Europe.
Wake up America, when heavily socialist European Countries become frightened by our spending we all need to take notice. I don’t know what Obama’s true motivation is but the moves this Administration are doing at every turn are destroying business in this country and prolonging a very troubling economy. The idea that the Government will do a good job at running anything is historically unsupportable. We are watching as this President pisses on the Constitution and tries to radically shift our Nation to his Marxist dreamland that will destroy the foundation of our economy for years to come. I am saddened each day when this guy makes his appearances and lies to the American people. You cannot base economic recovery on education, health care, and taxing all forms of energy. That is an absolute Lie. The Government does not produce anything. Growing Government and going on a spending spree is a dangerous idea and the entire world is starting to see that this American President can damage the entire world economy further than it already has.

I have compiled these links without commenting on them other than a brief intro. If you peruse the links you will see the orators/experts explain the topics very well and I believe it would be pointless for me to interject my opinion. My point is simply the debate IS NOT OVER and there are many knowledgeable people that do not agree with the idea that catastrophic climate change is a serious threat.

Bush Dodges Shoe…

The video clip can be found right here…

Throwing a shoe is a huge insult in the Muslim world. Apparently, this guy is not a fan of GW. President Bush is lucky these where shoes. I am a little surprised this guy got anywhere near the President especially, in Iraq where you would think the screening process would be pretty intense.

Biden is Biting his Tongue...as expected

Biden is biting his tongue once again…as expected
Sorry I have been off the radar for a while but it is getting down to the wire so I must chime in…
In a recent campaign speech Senator Biden explained his conspiracy-theory about the challenges that a Obama-Biden Presidency would face I the first six months in office. And, here is the quote in all its Bidentastic beauty-
"Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking," Biden said.
"Remember I said it standing here. if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough -- I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur. As a student of history and having served with seven presidents, I guarantee you it's gonna happen," Biden continued.
http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/10/20/biden-obama-tested-world-months-administration/
Did he really say that? Oh, yeah, he sure did…
What did he mean? That is anyone’s guess. Personally, I think he was trying to make a prediction that there would be a terrorist incident (or something along those lines) somewhere in the world that is in some way directed towards the US in the first six months of the Obama-Biden Presidency taking office. Okay, this is not a terribly incomprehensible possibility. But, what is the purpose of bringing this up now? Obama does poorly in polls on the question of readiness in conflict vs. MCcain. So, what up? Is Biden just looking for an I-TOLD-YOU-SO! Is Biden perhaps prepping the American people (specifically Democrats at the rally) for the potential backlash that would occur if such an attack where to happen on Obama’s watch? It is conceivable that such “an international crisis, a generated crisis” would happen under any new President. The interesting thing is why would Biden would mention this and insist upon the inevitability of such a thing knowing it would likely raise questions that aren’t helpful for the O-B campaign. I am confused…Any comments?

Russia and Georgia in Conflict

I don’t have a lot to say about this other than it is a terrible thing. Georgia is an Ally of the United States and a country that has applied for membership in the NATO Alliance.

“At their Summit in Bucharest in April 2008, NATO leaders agreed that Georgia would become a member of the Alliance, and launched a period of intensive engagement with Georgia to address questions still outstanding pertaining to Georgia’s Membership Action Plan (MAP) application. (http://www.nato.int/issues/nato-georgia/index.html)”

This conflict may have been averted had NATO granted membership to the former Soviet Union State. The fact that they do not have member status has emboldened Russia (Putin) which has mettled in the affairs of Georgia, and Ukraine (among others) for years. Some believe Russia has aspirations of reclaiming these Regions. Russia is also not pleased with further encroachment of NATO states along its borders. Below is the news link:

http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/europe/08/08/georgia.ossetia/index.html

The latest update is that Russian forces have taken the town of Gori after a cease fire had been signed by the President of Georgia. At the moment Russian forces are within 50 miles of the Nations Capitol. The fear is that Russia will use this as an excuse to force regime change and install a puppet Government in this pro-West regime and fledgling Democracy.

Interestingly, Russia won the Bid to host the 2014 Winter Olympics in the Southern City of Sochi. Sochi, is a fifteen minute drive to the Georgian border in yet another disputed region of Abkhazia. Map below:

I wonder if there is any relationship to the Olympics that would influence Russia having such a heavy hand in this situation. Who knows? But, we will have to wait and see how this disaster plays out.

Energy,

Okay, to mention energy…there was a response to a previous post that mentioned that a “Flip Flop” may not be a bad thing. In many cases, I agree that it is in fact correct for a Politician to change course if the majority of the country changes position on an issue or the current status of the country is affected for one reason or another. McCain and Obama have both altered positions on energy due to the rapid increase in the price of crude oil. Which, has caused energy prices to rise across the board.

“Early this week natural crude oil hit $117 a barrel, compared to an average $72 a barrel in 2007. And just 10 years ago oil prices were at $14.80 a barrel in inflation-adjusted dollars.”

http://www.sandia.gov/news/resources/releases/2008/oilprices.html

As a consequence of this (combined with various other factors) consumers are experiencing drastic increases in the price of goods due to shipping costs which increase food prices as well as non-consumables. This provides the Candidates with a little more wiggle room in the area of energy as polling has turned the corner and American’s are now overwhelmingly in favor of drilling and greater exploration. Nuclear energy which could largely quench our Nation’s thirst for electricity is now gaining popular support. To be fair, both McCain and Obama have reversed or altered positions in various areas on the energy front (although, Obama remains anti-nuclear energy). In any case, I do prefer McCain’s idea to use all available methods to break our dependence on foreign oil and provide a smooth transition to clean energy sources.

That said, there is an interesting point of view being spread by T. Boone Pickens. He has a plan for weaning the United States off of Oil through a varied approach of renewable sources. I can’t say it answers all the questions but it is certainly an intriguing and potentially plausible approach to begin moving toward clean energy. His plan can be found here:
